last night was ada's 100 day ceremony at the zen center.  you may be figuring that she is past 100 days and you would be right... it doesn't have to be exact.   basically it is a ceremony to give ada compassionate vibes to start her life along this human path.  she was very well behaved and seemed to like the watery circles on her forehead (maybe cause it was so hot in there!).  my mom, jeff, lisa and baby tilley came along to help ada along with the usual zen crowd.  here we are after with the officiate.  and the real question is, can i get any shorter?

on saturday, ada turned 4 months old!  yesterday we had her 4 month appointment at the doctor for the evil shots.  she did ok.  the shots were painful and then she was cranky and slept alot.  she is now 13lb 12oz (75%) and 25.5" long (90%).  so, she is growing like a little weed! 

this past weekend we drove up to maine to visit with my aunts and uncles.  ada did ok driving, though the 3 hours was a bit much for her even with built in breaks.  we went to a lake for a swim, hit the farmer's market and a book sale and otherwise enjoyed the lovely weather.  thanks to aunt ruth and uncle kent for letting us invite ourselves up!  on the way home, we bought a lobster for dinner, it was still a little soft-shell, but was very tasty!  here are some pix from the weekend.

i did, however, manage to get a photo of ada attacking her playmat.  i have been putting the bumbo on the side of it so she can play with the toys from a different perspective and... well... this is what happens:


we definitely like putting things in our mouth these days!!  in fact, she can get her foot in there pretty good too!

yesterday was jeff's birthday!  we enjoyed presents and cake last night and we'll be having the birthday dinner tomorrow night with jeff's parents.  his blog presents was lots of posts since he is always looking for those while at work...

here's another one!  ada can definitely prop herself up now!

on sunday we took grandma and steve on a duck boat tour.  this tour takes you all around boston in a WWII amphibious vehicle.  most of the tour is on land, but some is in the charles river... it was a wonderful day for weather and we had a great time.  the tour guide was a quick wit making it very fun!

after the tour, we took grandma and steve by the good news garage, home of click and clack from car talk on pbs.  the garage so happens to be right near jeff's work and we have even had our car fixed there...

great grandma and steve came out to visit us from illinois this past weekend, ada enjoyed meeting them!

this weekend we had a surprise party for my mom's 60th and her retirement.  she had no clue!  it was a great surprise and a great party.  unfortunately i have no picture of her being surprised since i was the one who distracted her and then brought her into the melee.  since jeff was home on the 4th and i was on cake duty, i spent the day making a cupcake tower:

here it is in the barn in front of the, um, maxwell?  (my parents have a few antique cars, i can't keep them all straight!).  the party was in the barn and the car was used as a present and cake area... 

for ada's part, it was all too much!  she had to go shopping with mom and grandma in the morning for distraction purposes and then there were just loads of people who wanted to meet her and hold her... here she is relaxing with my aunt ruth:


this was on saturday... sunday ada was TIRED!!!  she needed lots of rest from all the excitement!
