August 2008 Entries
here she is on her 5 month birthday!

she is more than ready to get on the move... now if only she could coordinate her limbs to actually go where she wants to!
we went to martha's vineyard this weekend to visit grace, joey and robert (we missed you mike!).  as usual we had a relaxing time hanging out on the beach and at the house, thanks guys!  we got our primo wood's hole parking spot and ada had her first ferry ride out to the island.  the weather was absolutely perfect once again...

ada napping on the beach:

ada with her first little dip in the ocean.  those little toes are making sure they don't touch that cold, wet stuff again!

with mom... hmm, maybe i do want to check that cold, wet stuff out again...

ada can't believe how many times that little black device is in her face...

here's another video of her playing.

in non-ada news, we are pulling the trigger on remodeling the upstairs bathroom.  i've been waiting 3 years to demolish the nastiness and get something nice in there... can't wait!
ada was very patient this weekend while mommy and daddy did boring things such as look at bathroom fixtures and tiles.  we also went to claire's christening with lots of other babies, all were well behaved.

here's the cute button on a break between outings:

chatting it up with brian (tilley apparently finds the topic of conversation boring!):

some video amusement

the quality isn't that great, but hopefully you can see enough...

ada has really been rolling onto her belly ALOT the past couple of days.  and she doesn't seem to know what to do when she gets there so she just gets all frustrated and starts crying after a couple of minutes.  what was really fun was when she did this in her sleep for about an hour in the middle of the night!

before the frustration sets in...

a change of scenery:

thanks to craigslist, yesterday i procured an exersaucer for ada.  she likes to stand, so i thought she'd really like it and she did!

bean is standing there wondering when her turn is!

i've also uploaded a video of her playing, hopefully it works!
the past weekend was the portuguese feast in new bedford, reportedly the largest portuguese feast in the world.  my mom's side is portuguese (from madeira) and we always meet up with them on the sunday of the feast.  the feast has rides, games, a parade, bands, etc, etc.  it also has an excessive amount of meat along with lots of beer and, more importantly, madeira wine (though when i was a kid, i think the rides and games would have taken precedence!).  i've never taken my camera to the feast before, but since it was ada's first feast, i took it along...

here's dad and jeff cooking carne de espeto (now, -that- is a serious meat pit):

the youngest and the oldest of our family, ada with her great-great aunt mary!

here i am representin' with my madeira hat on

and here's ada enjoying one of her new favorite pastimes, whacking whatever table or desk she's sitting at:

interested in more on the feast?  here's the link to the feast website.  and at the beginning of this album you can see some traditional costumes.

yesterday was revel's bachelorette party which was high tea at the concord colonial inn.  it was very lovely, complete with china tea cups and tiered plates of delicious scones, finger sandwiches and desserts.  jeff was nice enough to watch ada while i had a fun afternoon with the ladies...

and then! my parents got 3 tickets to the red sox game at the last minute and jeff said i could go with them!  so, i came home, changed and headed to fenway park for my second ada-free outing of the day.  jeff definitely earned some brownie points yesterday!  the game was really fun, the only one i've been to this year and the red sox killed the A's 12-2.  my dad got some great tickets through work on the new state street pavillion.  we had a waitress that would come around to our seats which were like stools at a bar.  very civilized.

just a shot from this morning to say hello!  she has an outfit with a matching bib on today.  i decided she'd better start wearing bibs since she is drooling all over the place and we are going through burp cloths like crazy.  she is not teething, she just likes to put everything in her mouth and when things come back out, so comes the drool...
