the past weekend was the portuguese feast in new bedford, reportedly the largest portuguese feast in the world.  my mom's side is portuguese (from madeira) and we always meet up with them on the sunday of the feast.  the feast has rides, games, a parade, bands, etc, etc.  it also has an excessive amount of meat along with lots of beer and, more importantly, madeira wine (though when i was a kid, i think the rides and games would have taken precedence!).  i've never taken my camera to the feast before, but since it was ada's first feast, i took it along...

here's dad and jeff cooking carne de espeto (now, -that- is a serious meat pit):

the youngest and the oldest of our family, ada with her great-great aunt mary!

here i am representin' with my madeira hat on

and here's ada enjoying one of her new favorite pastimes, whacking whatever table or desk she's sitting at:

interested in more on the feast?  here's the link to the feast website.  and at the beginning of this album you can see some traditional costumes.

Yup, that's a lot of meat. Looks like fun! Love your madeira hat and the photo with great-great aunt mary. Oh yeah, and Jeff's UAF cap. Glad you brought your camera!
